Zedira was founded in 2007. The core biotech company specialized in celiac disease (also called gluten sensitive enteropathy or celiac sprue), which is the main disorder caused by gluten sensitivity. Based on several years of applied research in the transglutaminase field, Zedira commercialize novel products for research & development and diagnosis of celiac sprue. Further the company plans to develop the first drug to treat celiac disease. In September 2007 Zedira closed the Series A financing round led by German High-Tech Gruenderfonds. Further, the company receives funding by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research. Founders of the company are Dr. Martin Hils and Dr. Ralf Pasternack. The management has over 20 years experience in the biotech business and applied research. The privately held company is based in Darmstadt – the south Hessian “City of Science” located in a triangle between Frankfurt, Wiesbaden and Heidelberg. |
